Das Interesse an allem Digitalen wurde bei Wolfram Gieseke in der Schulzeit geweckt, wo ihn bei den damals beliebten Homecomputern (C64 & Co.) schon damals das Programmieren mehr als das Spielen interessierte. Nach dem Abitur studierte er ab 1991 an der Universität Osnabrück "Computerlinguistik und Künstliche Intelligenz". Eine interessante Zeit, denn sie fiel zusammen mit einigen umwälzenden Entwicklungen in der IT-Welt. Zu Beginn des Studiums waren PCs noch riesige Kästen, die man kaum alleine tragen konnte. Am Rechenzentrum der Uni saß er an monochromen Terminals und kommunizierten via "BITnet". Ein paar Jahre später lief man mit Notebooks rum und es gab sogar schon die ersten PDAs (Newton & Co.) - heute würde man Smartphones dazu sagen. In der Zwischenzeit war auch das "Internet geboren" und mit Mosaic gab es den ersten Webbrowser. Während des Studiums hatte Wolfram Gieseke einen Hiwi-Job, bei dem er das Netzwerk eines Fachbereichs betreute und Mitarbeiter sowie Kommilitonen in den Standardanwendungen, Internet usw. schulte. Irgendwann ergab sich über einen Studienkollegen die Gelegenheit, an einem Buch zum Thema Internet mitzuarbeiten. Das war der Einstieg in die "wunderbare Welt" des Fachbuchautor-Daseins. Und wo es schon mal so gut lief, blieb er dann einfach dabei. Mittlerweile kann Wolfram Gieseke auf eine Vielzahl von veröffentlichten Büchern zurückblicken, die teilweise in mehrere andere Sprachen übersetzt und weltweit fast eine Million Mal verkauft wurden. Heute lebt er mit seiner Frau und zwei Söhnen (und zahlreichen Computern) in der Nähe von Osnabrück und schreibt fleißig weiter. Homepage und Blog: www.gieseke-buch.de
