Der vorliegende Sammelband gibt die uberarbeiteten Beitrage eines Expertenge- sprachs von Theologen, Philosophen, Okonomen und Wirtschaftspraktikern wie- der, das yom 10. bis 12. Marz 1989 an der Evangelischen Akademie Hofgeismar stattfand. Ziel der gemeinsamen Uberlegungen sollte es sein, anhand typischer Problemfelder (Entwicklungslander, soziale Beziehungen in der Produktion, Um- welt) MaBstabe fUr ethisch verantwortliches Handeln zu entwickeln, die einerseits die besonderen Funktionszusammenhange wirtschaftlichen Handelns respektieren, sich zum anderen aber auch nicht darauf beschranken, wirtschaftliches Handeln und die ihnen tatsachlich oder vermeintlich zugrunde liegenden "Sachgesetzlich- keiten" quasi von au8en ethisch zu qualifizieren. Eine derartig externe ethische Bewertung bleibt namlich -so die zentrale These des Expertengesprachs - in jedem Faile hOchst unbefriedigend, gleichviel, ob sie als ethische Uberhohung unterstell- ter Funktionsnotwendigkeiten oder als moralisierende Kritik an wirtschaftlichen Prozessen schlechthin auftritt. In der angenehmen Atmosphare des Hofgeismarer SchloBchens Schonburg wurde diese komplexe Thematik von Praktikern und Wissenschaftlern aus unterschiedli- cher fachlicher und auch normativer Sicht heraus fruchtbar diskutiert. Nicht nur dafur, sondern fUr vielerlei Un erstutzung bei der Vorbereitung und DurchfUhrung der Tagung habe ich vor allem dem damaligen Akademiedirektor, Herrn Ober- landeskirchenrat Klaus Rohring (Hofgeismar/Kassel), herzlich zu danken. Wert- volle Hinweise erhieIt ich auch von Herrn Dr. Ernst-Joachim Westerburg (Stellver- tretender HauptgeschaftsfUhrer der Industriec und Handelskammer Kassel) sowie von Herrn Dr. Eberhard K.
