This book contains a collection of chapters, each of which was contributed by experts in their respective topic. Some chapters focus on scientific results in the fields linked with complex systems, while other deal with methodologies for operating within complex systems and their researching. Since all, or at least a significant majority of our activities are linked to complex systems and are conducted while we are explicitly in a complex system, chapters of this book are both widely applicable to a variety of real life situations and applicable for initiating a specific research.

Robert Fabac received his B.Sc. degree in Physics (1994), M.Sc. degree in Computer Science (1998) and a Ph.D. degree in Information Sciences (2004) from the University of Zagreb. While working at the Croatian Ministry of Defense Institute (1999-2007), he was involved in research in the area of strategy, simulations and organization theory. Since 2007 he has been employed at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Varazdin, where he currently holds the position of an Associate Professor. He teaches several courses, including Organizational Theory, Organizational Design and Organizational Communication. He is a member of editorial boards of several scientific journals as well as a member of program committees of a few international scientific conferences. He has participated in a number of international conferences and has published extensively in the field of strategy, management, ICT applications, game theory and decision making. Josip Stepanic (B.Sc. in 1994 and M.Sc. in 1998 from theoretical physics, Ph.D. in 2003 from mechanical engineering, all from University of Zagreb) is the head of the Chair of Non-destructive Testing - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering & Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb. His researches include system science, complex adaptive systems and several specific types of systems. He is the editor-in-chief of scientific journal Interdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems, and president of the Croatian committee for school competitions in systems science.
