Granville Austin, born in 1927, is an American historian and renowned leading authority on the Indian Constitution. He procured his Bachelor’s degree in American Literature from Dartmouth College and a doctorate thereafter in Modern Indian History from Oxford University. In addition to serving as a Staff Member of the US Senate, he is also the Founding Director of the Committee for Arab-Israeli Peace. He has authored The Indian Constitution: Cornerstone of a Nation and Retrieving Times as well. Austin was also the recipient of the Padma Shri award in 2011.
