En el Centro de Caracas, a escasas calles del Palacio de Miraflores donde se encuentra el Presidente de Venezuela, suceden enfrentamientos armados donde caen abatidos decenas de ciudadanos. La crisis institucional, social y política que le sigue constituye el polémico escenario sobre el cual se teje uno de los proyectos literarios más ambiciosos de la literatura venezolana contemporánea. A través de dos personajes opuestos pero complementarios, la novela Yo maté a Simón Bolívar pasea al lector por los discursos predominantes utilizados por el gobierno y la oposición, a la vez que construye una complicada telaraña de intrigas y tramas diferentes. Valiéndose de una diversidad de estilos tomados de la novela negra, la narración en primera persona, el surrealismo y las mangas japonesas, Yo maté a Simón Bolívar nos presenta un país radicalmente dividido donde se construye una novela que debe ser leída desde ambos lados para ser entendida a cabalidad. Vicente Ulive-Schnell (Caracas, 1976) posee una licenciatura en Psicología Clínica y Social, un Master en Etnometodología y un Doctorado en Filosofía del Lenguaje. Esto le ha abierto las puertas a excitantes ofertas laborales como barman, niñero, guía turístico, vigilante nocturno, profesor de maternal, obrero de mudanzas y demás. Es autor de 3 novelas, Anécdotas de la decadencia caraqueña, Caracas cruzada e Historias de un arrabal parisino. Miembro del colectivo independiente de creadores Niu Image, ha escrito y realizado varios cortometrajes; también organiza proyecciones, conciertos y lecturas, durante la manifestación alternativa e impredecible Niu Imaginarium. Fue una de las figuras emblemáticas de El nuevo cojo ilustrado y ha colaborado en varias compilaciones de escritores latinoamericanos.
