Alexander Z. Warren has taught mathematics at the prestigious Phillips Academy for thirty years. He has channeled all of the lessons he's learned as an elementary-school math teacher into innovative and intuitive math-learning material.

You Can Count On It can be used for students in any grade. The first part of the book presents simple mathematics for children in first and second grades. Learning these math foundations, like the four fundamental operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), will give kids a solid base to support more advanced skills.

The book then applies these four fundamental operations to more advanced equations. Instead of just natural numbers, third- and fourth-graders can begin to learn how to use the operations on signed numbers and fractions.

Alexander Z. Warren received degrees from Harvard College, Wesleyan, and the Harvard Extension School. He taught as a German instructor at Williston Academy and spent more than thirty years as a math instructor at Phillips Academy. He was an advanced-placement consultant to the College Board for twelve years and has served as a mentor for children in Newburyport, Massachusetts for ten.
