In this gripping debut memoir by Cynthia Middaugh, "You Don't Know Me" unbraids the chaotic life of Stephanie that shows the strength and triumph of the human spirit over tragedy. Stephanie grew up with a loving mother, a step-father, brothers and a sister. Raised with conviction and the love of baseball, Stephanie, though, longed for her father, Larry. Despite his absence, Stephanie never stopped loving Larry, the baseball player, the mechanic, the hero she adored. Stephanie's distant relationship with Larry led to failed marriages, physical and verbal abuse, cheating, addiction and mental illness. Through it all, Stephanie raised her own children and persevered with the help of her mother, Ann. Stephanie finally found, Joe, the man she fell in love with and trusted. Joe loved Stephanie, and together forged a bond that brought her healing. Stephanie, however, faced more adversity before her life became complete. Beautifully written, mesmerizingly rich and true, Middaugh's account of Stephanie's ultimately triumphant struggle for survival is informative, heart-wrenching and unforgettably beautiful.

Cynthia Middaugh was born and raised in beautiful, Southwest Missouri, where she and her husband, Don, and their little dog, Bitsy, continue to live today. She has won numerous awards for poetry as well as non-fiction, through the Crowder College "Quill" contests held every year. She graduated from Crowder College, Neosho, Missouri, in 1987, and from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, in 1989. After near-death illness, multiple breakdowns, and incredible blessings, Cynthia knew it was time to tell her story. Cynthia wrote "You Don't Know Me," because she hoped more than anything, that she might be able to help someone else who needs help. She wrote because she was so very grateful for the lessons she had learned, and the unwavering faith that had grown in her spirit, her soul, her heart, and her mind.
