Einige Fragen erhalten im Rahmen dieser Hausarbeit Relevanz. Das Ziel der Hausarbeit ist erreicht, wenn der Leser das Resümee ziehen kann, einen problemorientierten Einblick in das Bezugsfeld der Hooligans in Deutschland erhalten zu haben. Gefragt wird in dieser Arbeit insbesondere nach den Charakteristika eines Hooligans, dem Zusammenhang von Gewalt und Fremdenfeindlichkeit, Fu ball und weiteren gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen, den Formen von Fanarbeit und der Niederschlagung des Gendarmen Daniel Nivel auf der WM 98 in Lens mit Blick auf die Folgewirkungen dieses Ereignisses. Die Arbeit stützt sich oftmals auf Beobachtungen und Forderungen von Sozialarbeitern oder Sozialpädagogen, die als Fanbetreuer mit der Szene betraut und vertraut sind, und aus einem pädagogischen Blickwinkel Hypothesen, Prognosen und insbesondere auch Kritik und Vorschläge aussprechen. Die Heranziehung diverser Zeitungsartikel aus vielgelesenen, populären Zeitungen dient nicht nur der Nachrichtenpräsentation, sondern auch der Präsentation der Darstellung von Hooligans in den deutschen Medien, und damit der Beeinflussung des Meinungsbildes in der Bevölkerung. Ergänzend zeigt diese Arbeit die Perspektive von staatlicher Seite. Durch die Polarisierung verschiedener Einstellungen, beruflicher Aufträge und diesbezüglich ausgerichteter Handlungen, wird auf Konflikte zwischen den Personen- und Institutionenkreisen, die sich mit dem Hooliganismus befassen, aufmerksam gemacht. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auch auf die Konflikte gelegt, die dem Hooligan die Motivation geben, Gewalt in der Gruppe auszuüben.
