Der Pragmatismus ist überall in Mode, steht hoch im Kurs. Das Wort und der Begriff sind derma en gängig und eingängig, dass es an der Zeit zu sein scheint, an das zu erinnern, was sie eigentlich bedeuten, das hei t natürlich nicht nur wortgeschichtlich, sondern auch "pragmatisch", das hei t im alltäglichen Sprachgebrauch. Dazu erfolgt in diesem Werk insbesondere eine negative und positive Kritik der amerikanischen Auslegung des Pragmatismus. Hierzu werden speziell die Beiträge von Peirce, James, Dewey und Rorty in dieser Hinsicht untersucht und zu jedem Autor ein kurzes Fazit gezogen. Zuletzt wird darauf aufbauend schlie lich eine kurze allgemeine Beurteilung der amerikanischen Auslegung des Pragmatismus geliefert.
Dr. phil. Klaus Ulrich Robra M.A., geb. 1942, studierte Philosophie und Romanistik in Bonn, Tübingen und Paris, lehrte an Schulen und Hochschulen, engagiert(e) sich politisch, veröffentlichte mehrere Bücher und zahlreiche Aufsätze (auch zu Fremdsprachen-Didaktik und Politik); entwickelte eine Bedeutungstheorie der Trans- und Syncodierung, fand einen "Schlüssel zur Lösung des Leib-Seele-Problems", zu den Fragen nach Sinn und Wert, zum Zeit-Problem, zu einer wertphilosophischen Interpretation des Kategorischen Imperativs u.a.m. PUBLIKATIONEN (in Auswahl, außer den im GRIN-Verlag erschienenen) - J.-B.
