Im Jahr 2016 lag das Gesamtvolumen in Deutschland, welches per Crowdfinanzierung insgesamt gesammelt wurde bei 145,2 Millionen Euro, ca. 11 Prozent davon gingen in die Finanzierung von Startups mit einem Betrag in Höhe von 15,8 Millionen Euro. Im letzten Jahr soll das Gesamtvolumen für Crowdfunding in den USA erstmals den Betrag für Venture Capital Geber durchbrechen. Zum Vergleich hier die Zahlen für 2016, Crowdfunding ungefähr 34 Mrd. US Dollar versus Venture Capital ungefähr 30 Mrd. US Dollar. Junge Unternehmen sind durch selektive Venture Kapitalgeber und Risiko Averse Finanzinstitute dazu gezwungen neue Wege zu gehen um Finanzierungen ihrer Ideen zu bewerkstelligen. Crowdfunding setzt genau da an. Zusätzlich ist es in Zeiten von Sozialen Medien ein geeignetes Instrument zielorientiertes Marketing zu betreiben. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, einen Überblick über Crowdfunding zu geben und insbesondere die Nutzung der Möglichkeit für Startups. Eingangs werden zunächst die theoretischen Grundlagen erklärt und dabei verschiedenen Modelle aufgezeigt und voneinander abgegrenzt. Anschlie end werden die Funktionsweisen ausgewählter Plattformen erklärt und es erfolgt die praktische Anwendung hinsichtlich Finanzierung, Marketing und Vertrieb. Dabei sollen folgende Fragen beantwortet werden: Was ist Crowdfunding und welche Formen gibt es? Ist Crowdfunding geeignet als Startup Finanzierung? Kann Crowdfunding als Marketinginstrument genutzt werden um zur Steigerung der Bekanntheit beizutragen?
