Wie diese verschiedenen Arten der Kommunikation miteinander vereinbart werden können und welche Bedeutung der "Flurfunk" für die interne Unternehmenskommunikation hat, ist die grundlegende Thematik dieser Arbeit. Diese Arbeit geht der Frage nach, wie Belegschaften möglichst umfassend und ohne Reibungsverluste über anstehende Veränderungen im Unternehmen informiert werden könne und welche Informationskanäle hierzu zur Verfügung stehen. Die formelle Kommunikation dient oftmals nur als Basis für den informellen Austausch untereinander und viele, bereits im Vorfeld gestellte, Weichen können darüber entscheiden, was im direkten kommunikativen Austausch mit der zur Verfügung gestellten Information geschieht. Und sollte die formelle Kommunikation einmal nicht ausreichend informieren, tauchen oftmals Gerüchte auf, um das Informationsbedürfnis zu befriedigen. Deren Auswirkung auf die interne Kommunikation ist ebenfalls ein wichtiger Betrachtungsaspekt dieser Arbeit.
